Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose KDA for polished concrete?
KDA Custom Floor Co brings 4 generations of installation experience to every project, which helps ensure the slab is properly evaluated, prepared, and polished for the best possible result.

What is concrete grinding and polishing?

It is a mechanical refining process where a concrete floor is ground, honed, and polished using progressively finer diamond abrasives. At KDA, we use high-end equipment to ensure the concrete grinding and polishing results in a densified, finished appearance ranging from matte to high gloss.

Can I choose how polished concrete looks?
To a degree, yes. You can choose the level of aggregate exposure and sheen, from a softer cream finish to salt-and-pepper or more exposed aggregate. The final look also depends on the condition and flatness of the existing concrete, since uneven slabs will naturally reveal more aggregate during grinding.

What is the difference between sealed concrete and polished concrete?
Sealed concrete is concrete with a topical coating applied over it, usually a sealer that sits on or near the surface.
Polished concrete is concrete that is mechanically ground and refined with progressively finer abrasives, then usually densified, so the concrete itself becomes the finished surface. It is not relying on a surface coating the same way sealed concrete does.

Is polished concrete easy to maintain?
Yes. Polished concrete is generally low maintenance and is typically cleaned with dust mopping and a pH-neutral cleaner.
